Pirates keep rolling with sweep over Hornets

COSTA MESA -- When it comes to the Orange Empire Conference, the Orange Coast College men's volleyball team is the king of the castle and that theme continued on Friday as the Pirates celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a three-game sweep over visiting Fullerton College.

Sebastian Lara and Cole Hauser each had seven kills, while Mitchelle Keddie and Noah Pak each slammed down five kills to lead the Pirates (10-2, 2-0 in the OEC) to a 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 win over the Hornets (4-9, 0-2).

Coming off the bench, Lukas Morse and Peter Kelso made the most of their four attempts with three strong kills in the middle each , while the Pirates serving was on point with 10 aces.

The Pirates spread out the defense to the tune of 28 digs, wiith Lara and Tyler Vedder each with five, while setter Landon Seymour dished out 23 assists, while William Rice came off the bench and added 12. 

Coast will look to keep the winning train rolling on Wednesday at Santiago Canyon College, beginning at 6 p.m. OCC's next home game will take place on Friday, March 31 against rival Irvine Valley, also at 6 p.m. At the IVC home match, Coast will celebrate it's 75th anniversary as well as honor the newly-crowned state-champion OCC women's basketball team. All fans in attendance will receive a foam finger, but in the shape of a Pirate's hook, so come on out and support the Pirates on March 31!
