Pirates rout Tigers in five, 12-3

RIVERSIDE -- The traffic home from Riverside City College will be a little more tolerable for the Orange Coast College softball team after the Pirates rolled past the host Tigers in five innings, 12-3, on Friday afternoon.

OCC (10-8, 3-4 in the Orange Empire Conference) blew the doors off of Friday's game early with a nine-run third inning and never looked back against the Tigers (7-15, 1-7). A three-run home run off the bat of Amaya White and a two-run double from Nadia Perez highlighted OCC's big third inning.

White finished with two hits, two runs and four RBI for the Pirates, while Ashlee Kean went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Hailey Pichardo also chipped in two hits, a run and two RBI.

That was more than enough offensive help for Kean, who improved to 6-4 on the season with a five-inning complete game, allowing three runs on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

The Pirates will kick off a three-game homestand next week on Monday against Citrus College, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Coast will then host Cypress on Wednesday (3 p.m.) and Saddleback on Friday (2 p.m.).
