Pirates blank Lasers, 4-0

IRVINE -- It was smooth sailing for the Orange Coast College women's soccer team on the road as the Pirates cruised to a 4-0 Orange Empire Conference win over the host Irvine Valley College Lasers on Friday afternoon.

A pair of first-half goals by Lily Carroll (assisted by Cina Wilson) and Sydney Powell (assisted by Leah Martinovich) put the Pirates up, 2-0.

In the second half, it was more of the same for Coast (8-1-1, 1-1-0 in the OEC), with goals by Powell and Zoe Bacca (assisted by Carroll), who also assisted on Powell's second goal.

That offense was more than enough for the Pirate defense to handle as goalkeeper Jessica Gardner came up with three saves to preserve the shutout win.

Coast will be at Santiago Canyon College on Tuesday before returning to the OCC Soccer Complex on Friday to host Santa Ana. Both matches will kick off at 3 p.m.
