Pirates pick up first win of the season by topping Falcons

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team picked up a hard-fought 7-2 nonconference win over visiting Cerritos College on Thursday.

OCC (1-1) grabbed a 4-2 lead after singles play with straight-set wins coming from Krystal Hernandez (6-2, 6-3), Maddie Koehly (6-0, 6-1), Mai Hashimoto (6-1, 6-0) and Kitty Trinh (6-4, 6-4). 

In doubles, it was a sweep for the Pirates as Hernandez/Nicole Pham (8-3), Koehly/Michelle Cyrus (8-2) and Hashimoto/Trinh (8-5) all came through with victories. 

The Pirates will return to action on Tuesday at Cuyamaca College, beginning at 2 p.m. OCC's next home match will take place on Thursday against Palomar, also at 2 p.m.
