Orange Coast College sophomore running back Kyle White has picked up right where he left off, following a strong freshman season.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound workhourse picked up the slack for inju red running back Daniel Rodriguez in 2014 and led Coast with 627 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 119 carries (4.9 yards/carry).

This year, White returns to the backfield and in a dual role with Rodriguez and In Week 4 against Fullerton, he showed his ability to break away from the pack.

White dashed his way to 126 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries, lead the Pirates past the favored Hornets, 31-23. Included in that performance was an 80-yard touchdown that helped spark a big 24-point second quarter that put Coast ahead for good.

While last week's 126-yard effort was impressive, it by no means holds as his biggest single-week performance of his Pirate career. That took place in the final game of the 2014 season, when White dominated the Grossmont College Griffins to the tune of 36 carries, 240 yards and three touchdowns, in a 42-41 win.

It was the sixth-best single-game rushing performance in OCC history and the most since 2011 when Domenic Betts rushed for 272 yards against Southwestern College.

White's strong workload throughout the season earned him second-team, all-conference honors for the Pirates last year.
