Pirates fall to Grossmont to end 2023 season

CALISTOGA -- The Orange Coast College beach volleyball team saw its outstanding 2023 season come to an end on Thursday as the Pirates fell to Grossmont College, 3-2, in pool play of the CCCAA Beach Volleyball Team State Championships, hosted by West Valley College.

SARATOGA -- For the Orange Coast College beach volleyball team, Thursday's CCCAA Beach Team State Championship Tournament is a shot at redemption from an early exit at last year's event. For OCC's four returning sophomores -- Brisa Zepata-Reaves, Paige Cutwright, Izzy Duchaine and Lexy Mendoza -- it's the end of an era as this foursome has helped set a new standard of excellence for the Pirate beach program.

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Winning breeds winning ... and for the Orange Coast College beach volleyball team, this 2023 season has been nothing BUT winning as the Pirates topped Irvine Valley (4-1) and Rio Hondo (5-0) on Tuesday at the Southern California Regionals to advance to the CCCAA State Championships for the second year in a row.

IRVINE -- Brisa Zepata-Reaves and Corinne Williams captured the Orange Empire Conference beach volleyball pairs title and three other pairs earned spots at the Southern California Regionals after their strong performances at last weekend's OEC Pairs Championships, hosted by Irvine Valley College.
