Pirates take second at OEC Invitational

COMPLETE RESULTS 

RIVERSIDE -- Against the top performers in the Orange Empire Conference, the Orange Coast College men's track and field team finished second overall with 199 points on Friday at the 2022 OEC Invitational, hosted by Riverside City College.

Among the many highlights for the Pirates on Friday came in the 400 meters, where OCC went 1-2-3 to sweep the podium.

First place for OCC went to Ryan Rivituso, who crossed the finish line ahead of the field with a winning time of 49.59 seconds. Teammate Nicolas Felix was close behind with a runner-up time of 50.45, while Maximas Knudson took third for Coast with a time of 51.38.

Another big point-getter for Coast came in the javelin throw, where the Pirates took the top two spots, led by Joshua Mejorada, who's throw of 155-feet, 5-inches cleared the field by nearly 11 feet. Teammate Tyler Young finished second behind Majorada with a mark of 144-7.

Mejorada also earned second-place marks in the discus throw (122-2) and hammer throw (114-3) as well as a third-place mark in the shot put (41-1 1/2).

Coast went 2-3 in the 100, with A.J. Biggins and Paul Domingue finishing with identical times of 11.28 seconds.

Another 2-3 finish occurred in the 200 with Rivituso taking runner-up with a time of 22.84, with teammate Jeffrey Hass third overall with a time of 22.91.

Coast will return to action on Friday and Saturday at Long Beach State for the CSULB Invitational, beginning at 1 p.m.
