Pirates blank Hornets on the beach, 5-0
HUNTINGTON BEACH -- With the yucky beach weather on Friday, the Orange Coast College beach volleyball team didn't waste any time at the Newland Courts, quickly defeating Fullerton College, 5-0, in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.
Straight-set wins for the Pirates (10-7, 9-2 in the OEC) came from the duos of Rachel Blair/Kingsley Mason (21-3, 21-5), Jordan Packer/Lulu Utterback (21-11, 21-7), Ellie Winter/Madison Hopkins (21-8, 21-7) and Sophia Wirtzer/Elodie Danet (21-7, 21-5). OCC won its fifth point via forfeit.
The Pirates will return to OEC action on Friday when they take on Santiago Canyon at 10 a.m. and Saddleback at 11 a.m. at Beach/PCH courts in Huntington Beach.
