Bats go cold in 6-2 loss to Rustlers

COSTA MESA -- The offense struggled on Tuesday as the Orange Coast College baseball team fell to visiting Golden West, 6-2, in an Orange Empire Conference matchup played at Wendell Pickens Field.

Rustler righty Dylan Mitchell improved to 2-1 in an impressive seven-inning performance. The 6-foot-9 sophomore allowed no runs on just three hits, walking two and striking out four.

Danny Jimenez went 2-for-3 with a run scored and one RBI for OCC (17-7, 5-4 in OEC), while Zach Nehrir added a pair of hits. However the rest of the Pirate lineup went a combined 1-for-24 with nine infield pop outs.

Meanwhile the Rustlers (11-11, 4-5) found success up and down the lineup, pounding out 14 hits. Kyle Jones led the way by going 4-for-4 with a run scored. Solomon Williams added three hits and Daniel DeWolf added two hits, two runs and one RBI.

The Pirates will return to action on Thursday at Cypress College, beginning at 2 p.m. OCC will host the Chargers on Friday at 2 p.m. at Wendell Pickens Field.
