COSTA MESA -- Sophomore wide receiver Mark Munson will continue his athletic and academic careers at Angelo State University, according to Pirate head coach Kevin Emerson.

Munson made the most of his one year with the Pirates, leading the team with 68 receptions for 989 yards and eight touchdowns. Four times, Munson topped the 100-yard mark and seven times, he hauled in seven-or-more passes, including a season-best 14 against Santa Ana on Nov. 1. ive program that will allow Mark to excel and get looks from the NFL. I wish Mark great success and will follow his career. I'm proud he was a Pirate."

Munson earned a unanimous spot on this year's first-team, All-SCFA Northern Division, Southern League team. His 68 receptions were the most in school history, topping the previous mark of 63 set by Ray Ohrel in 1999. His 989 receiving yards were the second-most in OCC history, behind Junior Tagaloa's 1,190 set in 1987.

"The reason I came to Orange Coast College at first was to continue my football career," Munson said. After getting here, practicing and not playing in 2013, and returning to the team in 2014 and participating in fall camp, I began to play for this program and all of its coaches that are dedicated to making us the best men we can be on and off the field.

"The OCC football program helped me achieve a full athletic scholarship by allowing me to compete against some of the top talent in Southern California accompanied by some of the most talented players in that locker room. I can't express enough how thankful I am of all the coaches, professors, and the rest of the college for giving me a chance to achieve my goal of playing at a four year university."
