Bio

After coming to Coast in 2022, Coach Trenton "Billy Bob" Thornton returns to the Pirate coaching staff as an Offensive Assistant.

Thornton grew up in Camarillo, CA and attended Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard, where he played quarterback in high school and college.

Thornton attended Moorpark Community College after graduating high school and played his first collegiate game against OCC in 2012.  From there, he earned a scholarship to attend Avila University and earned his Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology in 2020.

Prior to coaching at OCC, Thornton was the varsity QB coach at Rio Mesa HS for two seasons and a graduate assistant at Avila University for one season.

Thornton wants to continue to develop as a coach and aspires to become an Offensive Coordinator at the 4-year level.  He would like to coach at the D1 level and eventually become a head coach.

Thornton is the oldest of four children and has fond memories of growing up playing catch and watching football with his dad.  He currently resides in Long Beach with his girlfriend Arieahna.
