Pirates slow down Roadrunners for win No. 1

SAN DIEGO -- Jydon Hall had 21 points to lead the Orange Coast College men's basketball team to its first win of the season, a 73-67 win over Rio Hondo on Day 2 of the Miramar College Men's Basketball Tournament.

Cody Aquino provided a spark off the bench and added 12 points, while Aundrel Pua added 10 points. 

Guard Logen Howard anchored an OCC defense that forced 28 Rio Hondo turnovers and led the team with seven steals to go along with seven points. 

Shymar Wiggins led Rio Hondo (0-2) with 19 points.

After leading 36-34 at the break, the Pirate offense came to through the first part of the second half as OCC outscored Rio Hondo 26-13 in the opening 10 minutes. It was a lead that OCC would not lose the rest of the evening as the Pirates cruised to victory.

OCC will return to the Miramar Tournament on Saturday and will take on Copper Mountain at 2 p.m.
