Coast takes second at Tee-Off Classic

CHINO -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team posted a two-round team total of 747 to finish second overall at the 2014 Tee-Off Classic, held Monday and Wednesday at Los Serranos Golf Club.

Standout sophomore Michael Chen opened the event with a 4-under-par 68 on the North Course. Then he followed that up with an even-par 74 on Wednesday at the South Course to finish with a two-round total of 142, earning the medalist spot for lowest two-round score.

Santiago Canyon won the event with a 744, while College of the Desert finished just one shot behind the Pirates with a 748. 

Other individual scores for the Pirates included Jem Young (73-75-148), Zach Eddy (79-70-149), Cody Kelly (77-75-152) and Zach Olson (79-78-157). Eddy's 4-under 70 was the low round on Wednesday on the par-74 South Course.

Coast will return to action on Friday, Feb. 21 at the Mt. San Jacino Eagle Classic, held at Soboba Springs, beginning at 11 a.m.
