Pirates finish season sixth overall at SoCal Regionals

VENTURA -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team wrapped up a successful 2022 season at the Southern California Regional, where the Pirates finished sixth overall on Monday at Olivas Links.

The Pirates wrapped up their one-day, two-round regional with a team score of 765 (380-385). The top four teams in each regional will make their way to the CCCAA State Championships and from Southern California, that included Cypress (733), Saddleback (733), College of the Canyons (734) and Ventura (742).

In spite of missing out on next week's state finals, OCC head coach Sean Collins had nothing but positives for his team. "The guys left it all on the course," Collins said of his 2022 Pirates. "They all came a long way from the beginning of the season and I'm so very proud of their play."

Leading the way for OCC on Monday, who shot a pair of 75s for a two-round total of 6-over-par, 150. Cathan Peterson-Cheek was close behind Lin's performance and finished with a 76-75-151, while Joshua Lane improved six shots on his afternoon round for a 79-73-152. Samuel Carillo finished with a 74-81-155, Devin Keith carded a 76-82-158 and Sky Nam completed his two rounds at 160 (79-81).

The CCCAA State Championship will take place on Monday at Soboba Springs Golf Club in San Jacinto.
