Pirates finish ninth overall at SoCal Regionals
CITY OF INDUSTRY -- The 2023 season has wrapped up for the Orange Coast College men's golf team after a ninth-place finish at the Southern California Regional Championships on Monday at Industry Hills Golf Club.
The Pirates took on an elite field and a challenging 6,821-yard, par-71 golf course and after the 36-hole marathon day of golf concluded, Coast finished ninth with a team score of 798 (395-403).
In the morning session, Braden Guerrero shot the low round for Coast with a 4-over-par, 75, followed by Zach Iwashita (78), Cris Rodriguez (80), Samuel Carrillo (80), Jordan Fahy (82) and Nick Yang (102).
Grabbing a quick lunch and jumping back on the course for 18 more holes, the scores went up among all golfers on Monday, but the Pirates still performed well. Guerrero again led the way with a 78, joining Rodriguez for low afternoon round for the Pirates. Carrillo was close behind with an 81, followed by Fahy (83), Young (83) and Iwashita (86).
