Bio

Returning for his 13th season as skipper of the Pirates is Sean Collins.

Collins has been instrumental in bringing the OCC golf program back to "elite" status in recent years.

In 2014, the Pirates capped off an incredible five-year run as Collins led his team to five consecutive Orange Empire Conference titles.

The 2013 team had one of the most successful seasons in OCC men's golf history. The Pirates earned their fourth straight Orange Empire Conference championship, then hosted and won the 2013 Southern California Regional Championships. Coast advanced to the California Community College Athletic Association's State Championships, where they finished second overall.

In 2012, Coast once again topped the field and won the OEC title for the third consecutive year.

In 2011, he helped lead Coast to a 15-2 overall record as the Pirates successfully defended their Orange Empire Conference title.

In 2010, Collins led the Pirates to one of the most memorable seasons in school history. Coast won the Orange Empire Conference championship and qualified for the state championships with a runner-up performance at the Southern California Regionals. Advancing to the state tourney for the first time since 1991, the Pirates finished fifth in the state, its highest finish since winning the title back in 1958.

In addition to his work at OCC, Collins has worked at the Costa Mesa Country Club for the past 17 years.

Collins began his career at CMCC working as the golf course service marshal. From there, he was promoted to shop assistant and then tournament director after becoming a member of the PGA of America in 2003.

Sean played in the state finals with the Long Beach City College men's golf team. After his stint at LBCC, Collins earned a golf scholarship to Cal State Dominguez Hills, where he earned his bachelor's degree.

Collins qualified for the U.S. Open Sectionals in 2001 and currently holds the course record on the Mesa Linda Course at CMCC with a 58.

In addition to his coaching time, Collins is also the director of the Costa Mesa Country Club Junior Golf Program.

Collins and his wife, Christina, live in Irvine with their two sons, Jacob and Brennan.
