Pirates roll to 9-0 wiin over Knights
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team has continued to show a strong start to the 2024 season after blanking San Diego City College, 9-0, on Tuesday at the OCC Tennis Complex.
With the win, Coast improves to 3-1 for the season and on Tuesday, Coast overcame a couple of close doubles matches and cruised in singles play.
Coast went 3-0 in doubles, with wins coming from the pairs of Logan Friedman/Cole Martin (8-6), Will Davis/Thiago Cintra (8-6) and Ryan Magers/Chris Mietkiewicz (8-0).
In singles play, the scores were far less threatening for the Pirates, who picked up straight-set victories from Friedman (6-1, 6-0), Martin (6-1, 6-0), Davis (6-2, 6-1), Magers (6-0, 6-2), Mietkiewicz (6-0, 6-2) and Colby Kaplan (6-2, 6-1).
Coast will return to action on Thursday at Mt. San Antonio College (2 p.m.) before returning home to face Imperial Valley on Friday (10 a.m.).
