Pirates dismantle Dons, 24-4

SANTA ANA -- The Orange Coast College men's water polo team led from start to finish and cruised past Santa Ana, 24-4, on Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.

Nine first quarter goals helped set the tempo as the Pirates (7-3, 2-1 in OEC) never looked back following the opening whistle.

Eleven different Pirates scored goals, led by Edwuardo Wainberg, Nicholas Ly and Jacob Petersen, who each had four. Gabriele Simonti, Devin Fernandez, Angel Rosado and Andrew Holloran each added two goals, while Kei Yoshikawa, Skyler Chanove, Ryan Khalaf and Bradly Olivolo each scored once.

Gavin Gray took advantage of the abundant OCC offence and earned the win in goal with nine saves.

The Pirates will head up to Riverside City College on Friday for a weekend tournament before taking on the Tigers in an OEC matchup on Wednesday at RCC, beginning at 3 p.m.
