Pirates end regular season with six wins in a row!

ORANGE -- The Orange Coast College men's water polo team is heading into the postseason on a nice six-match winning streak following last week's action against Saddleback and Chapman University.

On Wednesday, Coast headed down to Mission Viejo for the Orange Empire Conference finale against the Gauchos and rolled to a 12-8 win. Coast (17-6 overall, 4-1 in OEC) opened things with five straight goals and led by as many as seven (11-4) before a late Saddleback run made the score closer than it actually was.

Gabriele Simonti had three goals and four steals to lead the Pirates, while Eduardo Wainberg, Andrew Halloran and Jacob Petersen each added two goals. Halloran and Petersen also dished out two assists each, while Angel Rosado added a goal and a team-best three assists.

In goal, Gavin Gray maintained his stellar season with 13 saves.

On Saturday, Coast played at Chapman University to take on the Panthers and Coast came home with a 14-10 win. Rosado led the way with four goals for OCC, while Simonti, Wainberg and Gerardo Garcia each tossed in three goals. Gray notched five saves to collect the win.

OCC will now begin its postseason with the Orange Empire Conference Water Polo Championships, which kick off on Thursday at Cypress College. Times and opponents are to be announced soon.
