Pirate men take third at Titan Invitational

FULLERTON -- The Orange Coast College men's cross country team ran their final meet of the regular season and placed third overall at the 2015 Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational on Friday afternoon.

With four runners in the top-20, the Pirates finished with 89 points, bettered only by UCLA (23) and Loyola Marymount (66) and better than Cal Baptist (100), Santa Ana College (106) and Vanguard University (118).

Eamon Smythe led the way for the Pirates and finished 11th among team runners with a time of 25 minutes, 56.56 seconds. 

OCC freshman Oscar Salas placed 13th with a time of 26:04.1, while other top times were turned in by Danny Dominguez (14th, 26:06.49), Daniel Vargas (19th, 26:36.54), Jose Armendariz (32nd, 27:38.61), Alex Perez (34th, 28:08.36) and Adolfo Cruz (36th, 28:49.16).

With the conclusion to the regular season, the Pirates now focus their attention to the Orange Empire Conference Championships, which take place on Friday at Irvine's Mason Park, beginning at 9 a.m.
