Pirates are Fresno bound after solid Regional showing

CERRITOS -- The Orange Coast College men's cross country team finished 14th overall at the 2018 Southern California Regional Championships on Friday at Don Knabe Regional Park, which earned the Pirates a trip to the State Meet in Fresno in two weeks.

Coast finished with 406 points and their 14th-place result was good enough to earn the Pirates a spot at the California Community College Athletic Association Cross Country State Championships, set for Nov. 17 at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Top times for the Pirates on the four-mile course include Myles Aguilar (21:05.3), Jacob Skytte (21:11.6), Oscar Gatica (21:22), Adam Angel (21:33.7), Justin Dominguez (21:41), Jesus Zuniga (21:56.5) and Jordan Knoblock (22:08.6).

Mt. San Antonio College claimed the top team spot with 59 points and were led by SoCal champion Salvador Capetillo (19:01.3). El Camino (97 points) finished second overall, while San Diego Mesa (109 points) took third.
