Pirates finish fifth at SD Mesa Invitational

SAN DIEGO -- It was another solid performance for the Orange Coast College men's cross country team as the Pirates finished fifth overall at the 2021 San Diego Mesa Invitational at NTC Park, Liberty Station.

With three top-30 point totals, the Pirates managed to place fifth with a team score of 153, trailing only Mt. San Antonio (46), SD Mesa (52), American River (53) and Riverside (79) in the 15-team field. 

Kade Franco led the Pirate runners in Friday's four-mile race, finishing 20th overall with a time of 21 minutes, 24.8 seconds. 

Close behind Franco's time was Pirate teammate Cole Ridenour, who finished 28th with a time of 21:38.8, followed by Hector Espana at 21:50.2.

Other top OCC times included Donovish Molina Jr. (21:53.3), August Garcia (22:34.6), Viencent Luong-Kha (22:39.6), Erik Galindo (23:04.9), Cris Hernandez (23:27.1), Connor O'Brien (23:28.9), Daniel Rioquinto (23:42.7), Zachary Lang (23:49.7) and German Ramos (24:07.9).

The Pirates will return to action on Friday at the Vanguard Invitational, which will be held at Mile Square Park, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
