SANTA ANA -- The Orange Coast College softball team picked up its 20th win of the season with a 10-2 Orange Empire Conference victory over Santa Ana College on Tuesday.
Jasmyn Morales went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI for the Pirates (20-11, 10-5 in the OEC), while Lydia Gonzalez and Katie Belmontes each homered and drove in two. Both of the those HRs happened in OCC's six-run second inning that all but sealed the win for the Pirates over the host Dons (14-19, 6-10).
Ruby Fidge picked up her 8th win of the season, going the distance and allowing just two runs on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
With the win, the Pirates remain in third place in the OEC standings, behind unbeaten Fullerton (16-0) and second-place Cypress (12-4).
Game 2 of this three-game series will take place on Thursday at OCC, beginning at 2 p.m.
