DiCroce earns third-team, All-State honors!

COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College women's basketball player Chanelle DiCroce, who helped the Pirates advance to the second round of the Southern California Regional playoffs, earned third-team, All-State honors for her outstanding play in 2013-14.

DiCroce, a sophomore guard from Brea-Olinda HS, averaged 11.9 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game for the Pirates (19-11) this past season.

DiCroce played in all 30 games for the under-staffed Pirates, averaging over 30 minutes per game throughout the season. She reached double-figures in scoring 20 times, including Coast's final eight games. Over that eight-game span, she averaged a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds per game.

The Pirates, playing with just seven full-time players for most of the season, nearly missed the Orange Empire Conference title and earned a first-round playoff victory over Cuesta before falling in the second round to eventual state-champion Ventura College.

DiCroce also joined teammates Dayanara Armenta and Raechelle Davis as first-team, All-Orange Empire Conference selections. Armenta averaged 11.9 points, while Davis nearly averaged a double-double the entire season with 11.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for the Pirates.

OCC freshman Jasmine Matar earned second-team, All-Orange Empire Conference honors after averaging 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
