Collins wraps up OCC career with 10th-place finish at CCCAA State Championships

MORRO BAY -- It was an impressive OCC career for women's golfer, Meah Collins and teammate Emma Ashcraft as the duo made it back-to-back state championship appearances for the Pirates on Sunday and Monday.

Both Pirate sophomores earned spots to this year's CCCAA Women's Golf State Championships after their stellar play at last weekend's Southern California Regional Championships.

Unfortunately for Ashcraft, her season ended a few holes into the Sunday's round due to an injury, Collins made the most of her two days up north, finishing in a tie for 10th overall after shooting a two-round total of 167.

The greens were slick and the pins were unforgiving on Round 1 as the entire field posted an average score of 84.8, with Collins shooting an 87 on Sunday.

Collins went out late on Monday and not only battled the best golfers in the state and dropping temperatures, she also had to race against the setting sun as she finished the last couple of holes in near darkness. The Pirate standout saved her best golf for last, shooting an impressive 2-over-par on the back-nine and finished Monday's round at 8-over-par, 80.

Collins and Ashcraft helped set the standard for the OCC women's golf program for the past two seasons. In 2021, they helped bring the Pirates back to the State Championships as a team and helped guide OCC to a fourth-place overall finish.
