Pirates get it done at Santa Ana with 2-0 win over Dons

SANTA ANA -- The Orange Coast College women's soccer team picked up single goals in each half to top host Santa Ana College, 2-0, on Tuesday in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.

OCC (12-5-2, 5-5-1 in the OEC) outshot the Dons (2-12-2, 2-9-0), 15-7, and carried the action for most the afternoon.

In the 25th minute, Sydney Powell collected the first of two assists when she fed Teagen Leipper, who found the back of the net to put the Pirates up for good.

It stayed that way until the 73rd minute when Powell slipped a pass to teammate Lily Carroll and the sophomore forward scored to make it 2-0.

OCC goalie Jessica Gardner took care of the rest as she notched another shutout win with a four-save performance.

The Pirates return to action on Friday at home against Fullerton College, beginning at 3 p.m.
