Pirates handle business and roll past Warriors, 8-1
TORRANCE -- The winning streak continues for the Orange Coast College women's tennis team as the Pirates toppled El Camino College, 8-1, on Monday, in a nonconference matchup.
Coast (16-0) made it a drama-free Monday with a 6-0 sweep through singles, led by Miri Inoue (6-2, 6-2), Shayee Sherif (6-1, 6-1), Nicole Knickerbocker (6-1, 6-3), Camryn Mason (6-1, 6-0), Claire Boettcher (6-0, 6-0) and Shannon Stone (6-0, 6-0).
In doubles play, the Pirates took 2-of-3 matches, led by the teams of Sherif/Mason (8-5) and Stone/Rosemary Magnuson (8-3).
In the Orange Empire Conference standings, Coast has a two-match lead on Riverside with just two matches left to go. The Pirates will look to earn the outright title on Tuesday at home against Cypress College, beginning at 2 p.m.
