Pirates cruise to 9-0 win over Hornets
COSTA MESA -- It was another dominating performance by the Orange Coast College women's tennis team as the Pirates rolled to a 9-0 Orange Empire Conference win over visiting Fullerton on Tuesday at the OCC Tennis Complex.
The Pirates (12-1, 3-1) won 24-of-25 games in doubles play and jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the contest, thanks to wins by Tori Varela/Olivia Sipiora, Rhea Gagnepain/Leanne Pascua and Merrit Dubourdieu/Kayla Cheng.
That strong play continued through singles play, with straight wins coming from Varela (6-0, 6-0), Sipiora (6-2, 6-1), Gagnepain (6-1, 6-0), Dubourdieu (6-3. 6-0), Pascua (6-0, 6-1) and Camila Nelson (6-2, 6-3).
The Pirates will return to action on Thursday at home against Saddleback College, beginning at 2 p.m.
