Rodriguez takes the bronze at OEC Cross Country Finals
BUENA PARK -- The trio of Jackie Rodriguez, Emily Smith and Reagan Arvidson each posted solid times, with Rodriguez earning a third-place medal at the 2021 Orange Empire Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday at Clark Park.
Rodriguez hung tough with the top two runners of the meet -- Riverside's Briana Rodriguez and Elani Huntley for the entire 5K race before taking third place with a time of 20:58.6, just behind Briana Rodriguez (20:53.2) and Huntley (20:53.6). That trio of runners were the only three to cross the finish line in under 21 minutes on Friday.
Rodriguez's teammates -- Smith and Arvidson -- each finished in the top-20, with Smith crossing the finish line in 15th place with a time of 23:11.2, followed close behind by Arvidson's 16th-place time of 23:14.4.
Up next for the Pirates will be the Southern California Regional Meet, set for Friday at Mile Square Park at 11 a.m.
