Miller paces Pirates to third-place finish at OEC Finals
FOUNTAIN VALLEY -- The Orange Coast College women's cross country team earned a solid third-place finish at the 2023 Orange Empire Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday at Mile Square Park.
Coast finished with 61 points, trailing only Riverside (32 points) and Saddleback (44 points) for the top spot in the standings.
Leading the way for the Pirates was freshman standout Liberty Miller, who conquered the 5K course and finished third overall with a time of 19 minutes, 8.94 seconds, just seven seconds off of the winning pace, set by Saddleback's Danna Ibarra Canales (19:01.12).
Another top-10 finish went to Pirate teammate Jaysi Reyes, who finished eighth overall with a time of 20:33.64. Close behind Reyes was Alexis Gilboy (12th, 21:27.73), followed by Jennfer Pineda (24th, 24:56.96) and Maloni Hernandez (36th, 30:45.49).
Up next for Coast will be the Southern California Regional Meet, which will take place on Friday, Nov. 3 at El Dorado East Regional Park, beginning at 10 a.m.
The 3C2A State Meet will be held on Nov. 18 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
