Pirate golfers earn second place at OEC event

RANCHO PALOS VERDES -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team took on a tough field and a tough golf course, but in the end, the Pirates earned a solid second-place finish at Monday's Orange Empire Conference matchup, hosted by El Camino College.

Played on the par-71 Los Verdes Golf Course, the Pirates carded a team score of 369, just seven shots off the pace of first-place Cypress (362). Other team scores included Irvine Valley (375), Riverside (376), Saddleback (384) and El Camino (493).

Freshman Michael Lin paced the rest of the Pirates by shooting a 1-under-par 70, one of just four golfers to shoot par or lower for the afternoon.

Jerry Huang was close behind his OCC teammate and carded a 2-over, 73, followed by Devin Keith (74), Lucas Renner (75), Josh Vo (77) and Josh Moroney (80).

Next up for the Pirates is a trip south to historic Torrey Pines' North Course as the compete at the Clash at the Coast on Wednesday, beginning at 12 p.m.
