Pirates go 19-0 with four-set win over Rustlers

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- The Orange Coast College men's volleyball continues to rack up victories as the Pirates notched a four-set win over host Golden West on Wednesday night to improve to 19-0 overall.

Freshman middle blocker Will Anderson ripped 12 kills on just 15 attempts with only one error to lead the Pirates to a 25-13, 25-16, 20-25, 25-11 victory. The 6-6 standout also had four digs and seven total blocks.

Kyle McCauley, Jack Flynn and Downey Huynh each had six kills, while the setting combo of Enzo Boggio and Jordan Rodriguez had 28 total assists. Libero Braden Neumann was solid on defense with a team-best 11 digs.

With the win, the Pirates have a two-match lead on second-place Irvine Valley for the top spot in the Orange Empire Conference. A win on Friday night at home against Santiago Canyon (6 p.m.) will give the Pirates their fourth consecutive OEC title and their eighth conference title in 13 years under the director of head coach Travis Turner.

The Pirates will wrap up the regular season on Friday, April 12 at Fullerton College (6 p.m.) before hosting the first round of the Southern California Regional playoffs on Friday, April 19 at 6 p.m.
