Bio

Jamaal Lee, a standout player for Orange Coast in 2015-16, returns to the Pirates as an associate head coach on the OCC coaching staff.

As a 33-year-old Coast player, Lee was one of the best players in recent memory, averaging 16.3 points, a state-best 12.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game for the 2015-16 season. The 6-foot-3 guard/forward scored 20-or-more points eight different times and reached double figures in 20 of the 26 games he played for Coast. Lee put together game stats that are hard to find on most video games. Against Palomar, Lee had 29 points and 14 rebounds. Against Miramar, Lee had 27 points and 22 rebounds and against San Diego City, he notched the first triple-double in recent memory with 17 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. His strong play earned himself first-team, All-Orange Empire Conference honors.

Following his Coast career, Lee earned a scholarship to Vanguard University, where he played his final two seasons for the Lions before graduating from VU with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Prior to his playing days at Coast, Lee was an assistant basketball coach for Marina High School. Off the basketball court, Lee enjoys writing, creating and producing music and also enjoys spending time with his three kids.
