Caeden Connell, Track and Field

Tell us about how you first got involved with your sport. When did you first get interested and began participating? What is it about the sport that you enjoy so much?

My dad ran track and field in college so I always had it in me but I didn't start competing until junior year in high school.

What got you here to Orange Coast College? Tell us about your journey to OCC.

I've always had the dream of competing in the Olympics and OCC is a good place to further those dreams and keep my track and field career going.

If I asked your coach or teammates about what type of person you are on your team, what do you think they would say?

A very outgoing person always talking and lifting everyone up and keeping the team morale up.

What events do you participate in?? Take me through the mental side of the events you compete in.

I compete in the high jump. The mental side to the event is very challenging because it's the only event where you end in failure there is not much winning to the event. So keeping up a strong mental state is a very important part to the event. I usually try to keep myself calm when competing and not get in my head too much.

When you're not involved with your sport, what do you enjoy doing for fun? Any hobbies or interests and that keep you busy in your spare time?

When I'm not training for track, I am usually playing another sport. My whole life I played basketball so I definitely still love to hoop with my friends.

Who would be your all-time sports favorite athlete and why?

All time favorite athletes are Jayson Tatum and Kyrie Irving because Im a Duke fan and love the way they play and they were both Boston Celtics' players at the same time and I'm a Celtics fan.

Favorite sports team? Any sport you want ... who's your favorite team and why?

Celtics, because my two favorite players were on the Celtics at the same time.

Once your sports career is over, what do you want to do with your life, career-wise?

Ideally I want to go to the Olympics and take track as far as I can but if that doesn't work out, I want to work for SportsCenter and doing something along those lines.

What's on your "Bucket List"??? Somewhere amazing to visit?? A Sports event to experience?? Whatcha got??

I want to travel the world and experience different cultures and see all these beautiful places.
