Bio
Erin Kennedy came to OCC from one of the top aquatics programs in Southern California – Newport Harbor HS – and helped the Pirates create that same winning tradition with its women’s water polo team. Over her two-year career as the Pirates’ goalkeeper, Kennedy’s Pirates went 50-15-1 with two deep runs into the postseason. Coast advanced to the second round of the Southern California Regionals her freshman year as the Pirates finished the 1999 campaign 21-7. She was a first-team, All-OEC selection and a second-team All-Region selection her freshman year, finishing with 164 saves and 43 steals that year. With a strong group of returners for 2000, Kennedy’s Pirates went 29-8-1 and advanced all the way to the CCCAA State Women’s Water Polo Championships before falling to rival Golden West in the finals. Coast finished that year 29-8-1 with Kennedy earning Team Captain, team Co-MVP, first-team, All-OEC, All-State and All-American honors for her stellar play in goal. Kennedy was named the OCC Female Athlete of the Year for the 2000-01 school year and following her Pirate career, she transferred to UC Berkeley, where she earned her degree in Film Studies.
