Bio
Jamie (Shine) Croy’s basketball career is nothing short of a miracle. In the spring of her junior year at El Modena High School, Jamie was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis, which caused inflammation of her spinal cord and brain membranes. She spent a week in the hospital and slipped into a coma just after arriving at the hospital. Having survived that life scare, Jamie began to regain her strength and was a standout basketball and volleyball player at EMHS before deciding on attending Orange Coast College. As a freshman at OCC, Jamie averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds, earning All-Orange Empire Conference honors. Her 330 rebounds as a freshman set a single-season school record. Just getting warmed up, Croy reset the school record with 372 rebounds as a sophomore (11.3/game) and her 702 career rebounds (10.5/game) is tops by over 150. Croy is also among OCC’s leaders in scoring, averaging 15.8 points for her career and she is one of four OCC players in school history to surpass 1,000 career points (1.060). Croy earned all-conference and all-state honors as a sophomore and was named Female Athlete of the Year. Following her OCC career, Jamie attended and played Division I basketball at St. Mary’s University for two seasons before a professional stint in Finland.
