Bio

In two years of swimming competition at Orange Coast, Tami LaVelle had the distinction of never losing a race - - in individual competition or as part of a relay team! In leading the OCC program to the first of eight state championships in nine seasons in 1984, LaVelle set the standards by which those who followed would be judged. The two-time OCC Female "Athlete of the Year" set 10 OCC individual swimming marks in her two years and still hold four school records - - for the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.15) , the 50 breaststroke (30.56) , the 100 breaststroke (1:05.57) and the 200 individual medley (2:09.10). After OCC won the 1984 state crown, LaVelle competed with the Mission Viejo Nadadores at the Olympic Trials. She completed her collegiate career on scholarship at UC Santa Barbara.
