Pirates find win column with 4-2 victory over Hawks

COSTA MESA -- The hard work and effort FINALLY paid off for the Orange Coast College men's soccer team who overcame a two-goal deficit while playing with just 10 players and rallied for 4-2 win over visiting Santiago Canyon on Friday.

Coast fell behind by two goals in the first 22 minutes of play, then had to play the final 63 minutes with just 10 players after a red card was issued on the Pirates.

Kicking off the second half, Coast wasted no time in beginning the comeback when Brady Powell scored off a feed from Yosuke Yokota just two minutes into the final 45 minutes, getting the Pirates within a goal at 2-1.

In the 65th minute, Meyer Saad took a nice pass from Floresta Damiano and found the back of the net, tying the match at 2.

Just six minutes later, Steven Garcia took advantage of sloppy defensive work by the Hawks and scored unassisted to put the Pirates ahead, 3-2.

With all of the momentum on the side of the Pirates, Garcia took a Powell feed and buried the fourth goal of the game for OCC and his second tally of the contest.

Backup goalkeeper Keita Takahashi started the second half for OCC and was a solid with four saves and no goals allowed, giving the Pirates time to get back into the contest.

OCC will return to action on Tuesday at home against Santa Ana College, beginning at 3 p.m.
