Pirate women in the mix at the CCCAA State Meet

DAY 3 LIVE STREAM

MONTEREY PARK -- With two days in the books, the Orange Coast College women's swim team is hanging tough as the Pirates finish Friday's session of the California Community College Athletic Association Swim/Dive State Meet in third place with 235 points.

Santa Monica City College leads the way with 308 points, followed by Sierra College with 279. Behind the Pirates are Santa Barbara City College (222) and Santa Rosa Junior College (212).

OCC's top performance came in diving, where Coast standout Lia Borja placed fourth in the state with a score of 200.10 points.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the Pirate foursome of Sydni White, Tyre Le, Brandi White and Marissa Pearcy finished sixth overall with a time of 1:54.06.

Giselle Quinonez took to the pool in the 200 freestyle and earned a sixth-place time of 1:59.21, while teammate Brandi White earned a spot in the finals of the 100 breaststroke and finished eighth with a 1:09.76.

Sydni White also earned a finals birth in the 100 backstroke and placed eighth in the state with a time of 1:01.93.

Coast wrapped up Day 2 in the 800 freestyle relay, where Quinonez joined Brooke Munoz, Gabriella Hester and Sarah McNeal and placed seventh in the state with a time of 8:17.77.

The third-and-final day of the CCCAA State Meet takes place on Saturday at ELAC, with the finals beginning at 4 p.m.
