Pirates join Hornets in support of Khloe Kares Night at Fullerton College

The Orange Coast College and Fullerton College basketball programs are proud to announce their alliance with Khloe Kares, which is asking you to please help our local homeless women by bringing new toiletries to the upcoming Fullerton men's and women's dual home games on Friday night, at Fullerton College.

Many people take these items for granted, however for a person on the street, they are essential.

Please bring the following items that will help many in need: feminine products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shaving cream, soap, hand sanitizer, shampoo, combs, brushes, gloves, a first aid kit, etc.

The women's game between the Pirates and Hornets will begin at 5 p.m., with the men's game to follow at 7 p.m.

The much-needed toiletries will help many homeless women who are struggling to survive, especially during these cold winter months . A collection box will be set up and run by both the women's and men's basketball teams for the January 20th double-header games against the Pirates.

Khloe Kares began with a dream by a local nine-year old girl who wanted to reach out and make the world a better place by helping those who are less fortunate.

A then, eight-year old Khloe and Hornet Head Women's Coach Marcia Foster first met on a flight heading back to Los Angeles. Khloe was on her way home from a conference and Coach Foster from a basketball game. As Coach Foster shuffled through her paperwork, Khloe asked if she was a coach. Coach Foster told her "Yes", and they (with Khloe's mom included) struck up a conversation about all the unique and impressive things that this young girl was doing. Taken by Khloe's vision of the world, Coach Foster decided to partner with her in order to provide an avenue to reach even more people.

"When I first met her, she was giving these hand-sewn bags that she and her grandmother made that were filled with necessities for homeless women. Along with that, she recently finished a mission providing kids in group homes with toys. She is an amazing young girl, AND she's a part of our community", said Coach Foster.

"I'm really proud and excited to have both of our basketball programs be a part of Khloe's vision. She is an amazing girl who truly inspires us to reach out and help others in need", Head FC Men's Basketball Coach Perry Webster.

Khloe will be at both Hornet games giving halftime presentations.
