Pirates pick up a pair of wins over Riverside and Glendale
HUNTINGTON BEACH -- The Orange Coast College beach volleyball team earned a pair of solid wins on Friday at the Newland Courts with a 4-1 Orange Empire Conference win over Riverside City College and a 5-0 nonconference win over Glendale College.
In the opener against the Tigers, the teams of Shannon Stone/Camryn Kaina (21-15, 21-10), Rylee Adair/Lily Johnson (21-17, 21-17), Hally Herder/Hannah Reid (21-16, 21-14) and Stephanie Garcia/Lu Lualdi (21-10, 21-16) each picked up straight-set wins for the Pirates.
In the afternoon matchup against Glendale, it was more of the same as Coffin/Kacey Mathieson, Stone/Kaina, Johnson/Adair and Ramos/Maddy Bergdahl each earned straight-set wins. OCC's fifth win came via forfeit.
The Pirates (3-4) will head out to the OC Great Park on Friday to take on Saddleback College, beginning at 11 a.m. before returning to the Newland Courts on Friday, March 22 against Cypress and Golden West, beginning at 10 a.m.
