Pirates roll past visiting Hornets, 7-2

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak with a solid 7-2 Orange Empire Conference win over visiting Fullerton College on Tuesday at the OCC Tennis Complex.

Coast used four straight-set wins from Ryan Palaeologus (6-3, 6-3), Malik Thiaw (6-1, 6-2), Jake Hastings (6-2, 6-0) and Nao Sone (6-2, 6-3) and picked up a tiebreaker win at No. 2 from Kai Rodriguez (3-6, 6-3, 10-2) to spark the Pirates to victory.

In doubles play, it was more OCC success as the No. 1 team of Rodriguez and Yuta Kawabata picked up a 9-8 win, while at No. 3, the team of Thiaw and Palaeologus blanked their Hornet duo, 8-0.

Coast (9-6 overall, 3-3 in the OEC) will return to the OCC Tennis Complex on Friday to take on Irvine Valley, beginning at 2 p.m.
