Pirates fight hard in Northern California tourney

STOCKTON -- The Orange Coast College men's water polo team took to the road this past weekend and faced some stiff competition up in Northern California.

Coast opened things up on Friday with a 17-12 loss to West Valley College. Taos Cadarette led the Pirates' offense with five goals, while Matt Schrout chipped in three goals, Jake Davis contributed two goals and Derrick D'Amico and Charles Howarth each tallied one goal.

In goal for the Pirates, Luis Martinez collected 12 saves.

Later on Friday, Coast took on Diablo Valley College and lost, 11-7. Davis led the way with three goals, while Scott Brush chipped in two goals and Garret Glore and Dillon Avila each scored one goal. In goal, Martinez came up with 15 saves for Coast.

On Saturday, Coast dropped a 14-11 decision to Sierra College.

The Pirates will return to action on Wednesday at home against Santa Ana College, beginning at 3 p.m.
