Pirates go 4-0 at Mt. SAC tournament

WALNUT -- The Orange Coast College men's swim team rolled through four tough opponents this past weekend to go a perfect 4-0 at the Mt. San Antonio College Men's Water Polo Tournament.

In the opener, Coast (4-1) took on Chaffey College and doubled-up the Panthers, 15-6. Four Pirates -- Nicholas Fichman, Gera Garcia, Eduardo Wainberg and Luke Rhone -- each scored three goals, while Gabriele Simonti notched a pair.

In Game 2, Coast made quick work over Rio Hondo College with a 19-7 victory. Fichman led the way with five goals, while Wainberg and Rhone each added three.

It was another high-scoring effort for the Pirates in Game 3 as OCC rolled past Citrus, 12-7. Simonti and Fichman each had three goals for the Pirates, while Wainberg added two goals and Rhone, Angel Rosado, Tanner Sprague and Ryan Baumann each notched single tallies.

The tourney finale was no contest for the Pirates as they dominated Ventura, 22-8. ELEVEN different players found the back of the net for Coast, including Garcia (four goals), Rhone (three goals), Fichman (three goals), Simonti (two goals), Baumann (two goals), Sprague (two goals) and Akili Allen (two goals).

Goalie Connor Halloran saw the bulk of the action for the Pirates and the freshman stepped up with 32 saves throughout the tournament.

Coast will return to action on Wednesday at home against Riverside, beginning at 4 p.m.
