Pirates make quick work of Hornets, 19-8

FULLERTON -- Eight different Pirates found the back of the net as the Orange Coast College men's water polo team cruised to a 19-8 Orange Empire Conference win over Fullerton College on Wednesday afternoon.

The offense was even distributed throughout the match as OCC (14-4, 3-0 in conference) jumped out to a 12-3 lead after the first two quarters and never looked back.

Gabriele Simonti and Nicholas Fichman each scored four goals for the Pirates, while Eduardo Wainberg and Angel Rosado each added three goals.

The offense continued to flourish as Ryan Baumann and Luke Rhone each tossed in two goals, while single tallies were turned in by Zachary Sproul and Garrett Harryman

In goal, the Pirates went four deep as the foursome of Steven Magdaleno, German Novytskyi, Connor Halloran and Parsa Pakdel combined to allow just eight goals on nine saves.

With the win, OCC stays tied for first with Golden West atop the Orange Empire Conference standings. The two teams will do battle in the final conference matchup of the season on Wednesday at GWC, beginning at 4 p.m.
