Pirates post strong times at Titan Invitational

FULLERTON -- The Orange Coast College men's cross country team notched an eighth-place team result at the 2017 Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Led by sophomore Shawn Contreras' top OCC time of 25 minutes, 43 seconds on the 8K course, the Pirates earned a team score of 202 points against a field of 140 runners from both two- and four-year programs throughout around the area.

Other strong Coast times were turned in by Hector Leon (26:24.2), Colin Takushi (28:12.9), Zachary Dignan (28:37.4), Oscar Gatica (29:03.9), Victor Bucio (29:08.4), Sebastian Chaves (29:44.2) and Gerardo Orbe (31:52.1). 

With the Titan Invitational completed, the postseason races now begin for the Pirates, starting with the Orange Empire Conference Championships, set for Thursday at 9 a.m. at Oso Viejo Park.

From there, Coast will compete at the Southern California Regionals, set for Friday, Nov. 3 at Central Park in Santa Clarita, followed by the CCCAA State Championships on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Fresno's Woodward Park.
