Low, Renteria finish 1-2 in OEC Heptathlon

RIVERSIDE -- OCC women's track and field standouts Annabelle Low and Kimberly Renteria each qualified for the Southern California Regionals after their performances at the Orange Empire Conference Multi-Event Championships on Wednesday and Thursday, hosted by Riverside City College.

Low took the top spot in the seven-event competition with 3,377 points, with Renteria placing second with 2,356 points.

In the 100 hurdles, but runners were neck-and-neck, with Low edging out Reteria with a time of 19.06 seconds, just ahead of Renteria's 19.1.

Low also took the top spot in the remaining six events, including the high jump (4-9 3/4), shot put (28-3), 200 (29.67), long jump (14-8 1/2), javelin throw (76-8) and 800 (2:30.66).

Renteria's runner-up marks were 3-11 1/4 in the high jump, 26-6 3/4 in the shot put, 30.68 in the 200, 13-7 1/2 in the long jump, 67-3 in the javelin throw and 3:14.92 in the 800.

The Southern California Regional Multi-Event Finals will take place at Mt. San Antonio College on April 2-3, beginning at 8 a.m.
