Pirates honor Alto, family with online video tribute
COSTA MESA -- Former longtime Orange Coast College baseball coach, John Altobelli, his wife, Keri and daughter, Alyssa, where honored in an online tribute video to commemorate the one-year anniversary of their passing.
All three tragically lost their lives on Jan. 26, 2020 in a helicopter crash that also took the lives of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, his daughter, Gianna and four others.
"With our campus closed, we wanted to do something that would not only honor our baseball coach and his family, but also be a source of comfort and reflection for so many people who's lives he touched," OCC Athletics Director Jason Kehler said. "It's been a rough year for so many people for so many reasons ... we hope this helps the healing process a little bit."
