Pirates drop pair at Ventura tournament

VENTURA -- The Orange Coast College men's basketball team kicked off its 2014-15 season this past weekend at the Ventura College Tournament and went 0-2 against Pasadena and Moorpark.

In the opener against Pasadena City College, the Pirates picked up a big game from sophomore Brad Buchignani, but came up short, 90-74, to the Lancers on Thursday night.

Buchignani led the way with 24 points, 14 rebounds and three steals, while Deion Page added 14 points and twin brother DeAndre Page added 10 points and nine rebounds.

On Friday, the Pirates took on Moorpark and dropped an 81-70 decision to the Raiders. Buchignani again led the offense with 15 points, while Ahmon Metdals came off of the bench and added 14 points.

The Pirates will host Miramar College on Friday in a nonconference matchup, beginning at 5 p.m.
