Pirates edge Tigers at latest OEC matchup
CHINO -- In a closely matched Orange Empire Conference tournament on Wednesday at the El Prado Golf Course, the Orange Coast College men's golf team pulled clear of the competition by three shots with a team score of 375.
The Pirates (20-4) were led by a trio of standout shot-makers, including Marcus De La Rosa (74), Austin Briggs (74) and Jordan Meas (74). Connor Hurst was two shots back of the Pirate trio with a 76, while Justin Collins came in with a 77 and Chris Casey carded an 80 for OCC.
The 5-0 result for Coast extended its lead in the OEC standings to five wins over Santiago Canyon (15-10), six over Cypress (14-11) and seven over Saddleback (13-12), with Riverside (12-13) and Irvine Valley (0-25) bringing up the rear.
The Pirates will return to action on Monday, March 21 at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in the next OEC matchup, hosted by Saddleback College.
